RASC News Agency: Credible sources report that commanders from the former Afghanistan army, police, and national security forces have fled to Iran and Pakistan after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. They have abandoned their homes to save their lives and have resorted to menial labor.
A reliable source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, informed RASC News Agency on Thursday, May 24, that many commanders from the national army, police, and security forces, along with their families, have fled to neighboring countries. Fearing the Taliban, they have taken up work such as laboring, street vending, and tailoring, far removed from their military careers.
The source stated, “A former military commander who once had over 10 to 15 bodyguards is now forced by circumstances to engage in menial work to provide for his family.” According to the source, numerous military commanders from the Republic government are currently in Iran, living under unfavorable conditions.
The source added, “All these military commanders have been reduced to this state because of the actions of Ashraf Ghani, the former fleeing president of Afghanistan. Their pride has been shattered in front of strangers, and they cannot raise their voices.” The source continued, stating that living in foreign countries feels like a form of captivity, where one must endure and hope for a better future.
Other sources informed RASC News Agency that a military commander who once controlled a corps, brigade, or checkpoint is now forced by dire circumstances to engage in work contrary to his professional background to earn a living for his family. The source remarked, “Afghanistanis have never been so humiliated, living under the control of others in such a manner.”
Akbar Hashimi, a civil activist in western Afghanistan, confirmed that the Taliban have driven away half of the former government’s military and security commanders and personnel, identifying and detaining some, while others have been tortured and killed for their perceived disloyalty.
He continued, “The primary blame for this scenario in Afghanistan lies first with the United States, followed by Ashraf Ghani and the seemingly significant but treacherous leaders, and now the Taliban. All these entities have played with the dignity and pride of Afghanistanis, leading to the current dire situation.”
Hashimi stated that part of the Afghanistan military forces were killed by Ashraf Ghani, Mohib, and Fazli, and now the Taliban are killing others under the pretense of a general amnesty.
