RASC News Agency: Recent devastating floods in Qadis district of Badghis province have resulted in the deaths of a woman and her two children, according to local sources. A local source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told RASC News Agency on Sunday, May 20, that the floods have destroyed nearly 300 homes, at least 100 shops, and approximately 2,000 acres of farmland. Additionally, over 200 livestock have perished.
Several residents of Qads district report that many families have gone missing due to the floods. Hakim, a resident of Qads district, informed RASC News Agency that the disappearance of numerous families has caused the human casualty toll to rise. He stated that the homes of dozens of families have been destroyed, and no assistance has been provided to them thus far.
Meanwhile, Rafi Qasemi, an analyst on Afghanistan affairs in western Afghanistan, confirmed that floods in various provinces often result in both domestic and international aid being diverted to benefit the Taliban. He noted that the Taliban are highly skilled at redirecting incoming aid into their own reserves and disseminate misleading information to the public about aid distribution.
Qasemi continued, stating that flood-affected people in western Afghanistan are in critical condition and urgently request assistance from international organizations. Taliban officials in Badghis province have confirmed the occurrence of floods in the region.
Reports indicate that these floods have impacted villages in the Langar Sharif area, Gulchin, Zoriya, Qads Khordak, Khairkhana, Qads Center, Qarchaghi, Buyeh, Gumbad Shah Ghiyasuddin, Shahr Arman Deh Berenj, and several other villages in Qads district.
