Adaptation of Epic of Gilgamesh by Yaqoub Yasna Published in Canada

RASC News Agency: The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the oldest epic poems in human history. It was originally composed in Sumer and later translated into Akkadian, with its texts preserved in the library of Ashurbanipal in Babylon.

However, during wars predating the Common Era, Ashurbanipal was defeated, and the library was buried under rubble. Centuries later, archaeologists uncovered the library and discovered fragments of the Epic of Gilgamesh inscribed on clay tablets, which they compiled.

The epic has since been translated and adapted into various languages worldwide, yet it had not been translated, adapted, or reinterpreted in Afghanistan.

Yaqoub Yasna, with the support of the publishing houses Gahwara and Ketab Kabul, adapted or rather wrote a new story inspired by the epic, using its themes and central events to create a modern interpretation in contemporary style and language.

The book has been published in Canada. Thirteen books by Yaqoub Yasna have previously been published in Afghanistan, Iran, the Netherlands, and Canada.
