Taliban Torture Claims the Life of a Former Military Personnel in Balkh

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, report that a former government soldier in this province has lost his life due to torture by the Taliban group. Sources informed the media on Sunday, Apr 7, that this individual was named Ziaur Rahman Ayazi and had served as the criminal commander of the third security district in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in the previous government.

Although it is unclear when Ayazi was detained by the Taliban group, sources stated that the Taliban subjected him to severe torture during his detention. Sources said that the deteriorating health condition of the victim in recent days had led to his transfer to the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Provincial Hospital in Mazar-i-Sharif. After regaining control of the country, the Taliban have consistently detained, imprisoned, tortured, and in some cases, even killed security forces of the former government.

However, the Taliban group does not answer to any human rights organizations or individuals regarding their violent actions against civilians and former soldiers. In the latest incident, members of the Taliban group continued their violence by ambushing a young man in the Abshar district of Panjshir province last night.
