RASC News Agency: Sami Sadat, the former commander of the Afghanistan Special Forces, recently characterized the Taliban regime as a significant menace to global peace and security during a session at the Cambridge Union. Mr. Sadat asserted in a social media post on Saturday, march 16th, that the Taliban have harbored over 16,000 Al-Qaeda members, including 800 commanders of the organization.
Expanding on his message, Mr. Sadat mentioned that he addressed Afghanistan’s situation at a session hosted by Nick Davis, the President of the Cambridge Union of Students. According to his statement, Mr. Sadat emphasized that the Taliban have recruited Middle Eastern militants by establishing seven thousand religious schools instead of conventional educational institutions. He highlighted that these actions by the Taliban are inflicting significant atrocities on the world.
Continuing, Mr. Sadat expressed, “We, the Afghanistanis, will fight for our freedom; all we require is comprehension and political backing from the global community.” This revelation coincides with last month’s report from the United Nations Security Council, stating that the Taliban maintain their connections with Al-Qaeda and have erected eight new training camps in the provinces of Ghazni, Logar, Parwan, and Uruzgan.
The UN report indicated the presence of senior Al-Qaeda figures in Afghanistan, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by the group to the country and beyond.
