RASC News Agency: Rina Amiri, the United States Special Representative for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan, emphasized in her recent remarks the admirable courage of Afghanistani women and girls defending their rights against extremist orders. Amiri addressed this issue in a message on social media platform X on March 8th, highlighting that without global support for Afghanistani women, women’s rights everywhere face endangerment.
Tom West, the United States Special Representative for Afghanistan, also underscored the significance of education, employment, and public participation of Afghanistani women and girls for the stability of Afghanistan and the region on March 8th. He conveyed these sentiments through a message on social media platform X on International Women’s Day.
West expressed, “On International Women’s Day, we honor the tireless efforts and bravery of Afghanistani women and girls in securing their rights, including access to education, employment, family support, and involvement in public life. These issues are fundamental to Afghanistan’s and the region’s stability.”
Following their assumption of power, the Taliban has increasingly restricted the lives and activities of Afghanistani women and girls, preventing girls above the sixth grade from accessing education and employment. Women’s rights activists have condemned the Taliban’s policies as gender apartheid and sexual harassment, urging the prosecution of the group.
