RASC News Agency: Officials at the Taliban’s Supreme Court in Sarpol province announced that two individuals were whipped on charges of “immorality” in the presence of a large number of witnesses and relatives of the accused in this province. According to a statement released by the Taliban court on Saturday, Feb 24, the cases of these two suspects had been finalized in the preliminary court of this group, and their prison terms had expired.
The court’s statement did not mention how long they had spent in prison or provide further explanation regarding the charges against these two individuals. The Taliban court’s statement mentioned that this verdict was “carried out based on the guidance of the chief judge of the Taliban litigation court in Sarpol province.” Meanwhile, the Taliban group has repeatedly whipped suspects in various provinces across the country since their takeover.
Furthermore, the Taliban group is accused of applying double standards in response to the charges against its members and the general public. Over the past two years, Taliban officials have been accused multiple times of extrajudicial killings, sexual assaults, and financial corruption; yet, none of the group’s officials have been brought to trial.
