RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kabul report that the Taliban, amidst their recent surge in violent activities, have recently fatally shot a young man named Elias Mehri in the vicinity of the city’s sixth security district. Sources informed the media on Thursday, Feb 22, that the Taliban assassinated Elias Mehri earlier this week at his residence, located in the vicinity of the sixth security district.
However, the Taliban in the sixth district claim that Elias Mehri committed suicide, a statement disputed by the victim’s close associates. According to sources, Elias Mehri originally hailed from the second precinct of Behsud district, Maidan Wardak province, and was fatally shot with a direct bullet wound to the back of his neck.
A source close to Elias’s family informed the media that he was killed by Taliban members without any justification, challenging the Taliban’s assertion of Elias’s suicide by questioning how one could shoot oneself from behind. This occurs as Taliban members, both before and after seizing control of the country, have repeatedly targeted young individuals in several provinces without valid reasons.
In a recent incident, Taliban members fired upon a civilian motorbike in Kabul city, whose driver originated from Panjshir province, resulting in multiple casualties.
