RASC News Agency: Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, articulated during remarks commemorating the anniversary of the Red Army’s withdrawal from Afghanistan that the Soviet Union laid the economic foundations in Afghanistan, while NATO resorted to deploying the “Mother of Bombs.” These statements were conveyed by the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Feb 15, marking the 35th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Zakharova juxtaposed NATO’s presence with that of the former Soviet Union in Afghanistan, affirming that the latter constructed over 140 industrial facilities and established the economic bedrock for the country, contrasting with NATO’s utilization of the “Mother of Bombs” in the region. She underscored that the Soviet Army, with financial and economic backing from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, erected more than 140 industrial facilities in Afghanistan, which continue to serve as the cornerstone of the country’s economy.
However, Zakharova refrained from specifying the exact locations in Afghanistan where the former Soviet Army erected these economic facilities. The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry further remarked that NATO operations in Afghanistan ultimately culminated in “complete failure.” It is noteworthy that the Apr 27, to the anniversary of the former Soviet forces’ withdrawal from Afghanistan, acknowledged in the country’s calendar as the Day of Withdrawal.
