RASC News Agency: Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, responded to the recent report by the United Nations Security Council, asserting that the report diverges from reality and claiming that “no individuals associated with Al-Qaeda” are present in Afghanistan. In a statement issued by the Taliban on Thursday, Feb 1, Mujahid stated: “We are aware that some member countries of the Security Council have failed in Afghanistan; they naturally hold grudges and disseminate such falsehoods.”
The Taliban spokesperson, once again adopting a sharp tone, accused the United Nations of orchestrating efforts to tarnish their regime. Additionally, the Taliban spokesperson remarked: “The United Nations has initiated a systematic plan to level accusations against the Taliban and consistently disseminates propaganda.” It is noteworthy that the United Nations Security Council, in its latest report, affirmed that the Taliban maintain connections with Al-Qaeda.
The UN Security Council report notes that the Al-Qaeda network has established eight new training camps in select provinces of Afghanistan and maintains an arms depot in Panjshir province. Nevertheless, the Taliban group, in response to this report, declared it a “false accusation” and vehemently rejected it. This development occurs as neighboring and regional countries have repeatedly voiced concerns about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s control, yet the Taliban have consistently dismissed such reports.
