RASC News Agency: The local authorities of the Taliban group in Bamyan province have confirmed the operationalization of a school building in the region, with a total expenditure of $318,000. According to the newsletter released by the Department of Information and Culture of the Taliban group in Bamyan province on Wednesday, December 27th, the construction of the school has been completed, and it officially commenced its operations yesterday in the center of Bamyan province.
Abdul Saboor Farzan Saighani, the spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Bamyan province, affirmed that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) funded the construction of this educational institution. The newsletter further discloses that the school, named Qazan Boys’ High School, is located in Dara-e-Foladi, in the center of Bamyan. It boasts two floors and encompasses 14 classrooms, including a computer lab and a laboratory class. Additionally, the school is furnished with chairs, tables, a water supply, and a solar power distribution system, along with a sports area to enrich the learning environment for the students.
Despite the presence of international organizations and individuals involved in constructing school buildings in various provinces of the country, the establishment of this school by the UNHCR is particularly noteworthy. Numerous provinces in the country still lack proper school buildings, compelling students to study in suboptimal conditions, such as open-air spaces and tents, without access to adequate educational facilities.
It is crucial to emphasize that since the Taliban assumed control of the country, they have exhibited hostility towards girls’ education, which has adversely affected the education of boys as well. Consequently, boys have been discouraged from attending school and pursuing education due to the group’s policies and actions.
