RASC News Agency: According to credible sources, specific officials within the Taliban organization, notably high-ranking military figures, have orchestrated the establishment of a “cyber army” on various social media platforms. The primary aim of this digital militia is to bolster their own image and launch targeted campaigns against their adversaries. Media reports on Monday, December 25th, uncovered the recruitment of multiple groups by the Taliban to enhance the profiles of their officials and engage in offensives against their opponents. Furthermore, it has come to light that the Taliban group has inaugurated dedicated offices in Kabul to facilitate these cyber operations.
The information indicates that these cyber groups are predominantly linked to key figures within the Taliban, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, the interior minister; Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, the defense minister; and Abdulhaq Wasiq, the head of intelligence. These individuals predominantly exploit social media platforms, notably X (Twitter), to conduct their activities against adversaries within the Taliban. Additional sources have reported that Anas Haqqani and Saeed Khosti, a former spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, have assumed leadership roles within one of these cyber groups. It is crucial to emphasize that Saeed Khosti faces accusations of sexual assault against Elaha Delawarzai. Reports suggest that the Taliban has allocated a monthly stipend for these cyber groups.
Noteworthy is the fact that social media, particularly X, is extensively leveraged by the Taliban group. Users defending the group or praising its prominent figures frequently adopt fake and anonymous identities. These individuals primarily function as internet trolls, launching offensive language and harassment against critics. Additionally, there are allegations that a subset of these individuals has been assigned the task of collaborating with certain Pakistani hackers to compromise the accounts of the group’s opponents through hacking endeavors.
