RASC News Agency: Reports from Jawzjan province confirm the apprehension of Mullah Qiam, the chief investigator of crimes for the Taliban police command, on charges of colluding with a gang of thieves. The media was apprised on Saturday, December 23rd, of the arrest of this Taliban official on Thursday, the 21st. The alleged accomplices of Mullah Qiam, targeting passenger cars on the Mazar-e-Sharif-Jozjan highway, were said to be the culprits.
Sources reveal that Mullah Qiam and his cadre of 11 armed individuals were disarmed, subsequently apprehended, and incarcerated. Prior to their apprehension, a confrontation unfolded between Mullah Qiam’s group and another commander from the Taliban, affiliated with the highway protection unit. This clash resulted in the fatality of one Taliban member and left another wounded.
Despite assertions by local Taliban authorities that criminal activities, particularly targeted killings and armed robberies, have diminished under their control, recent reports signal a notable surge in criminal incidents. This escalation raises concerns among citizens, particularly regarding mysterious and targeted murders, along with armed robberies.
The Taliban group has faced accusations in various criminal cases in the past. Numerous members of the group have been implicated, and it is noteworthy that the group’s judicial courts refrain from conducting investigations into their own members within the country.
